Who We Are
Batam Women Build are a group of International Expats and local Indonesians currently residing in Batam Island which is part of Riau Islands, Indonesia.
Driving around our wonderful island of Batam, it is clear that within the local community there are many families with a substantial need for adequate housing, and we knew that we could help.
So, in January 2014 we began our fundraising group – Batam Women Build. We fundraise in conjunction with Habitat for Humanity Indonesia and Habitat for Humanity Singapore with the goal of raising money to build homes for families in need of decent, affordable housing here in Batam.
On our previous fundraising platform, we raised a whopping IDR 485,089,225 - which enabled us to build 14 homes for families in need.
In June 2019, our campaign moved onto this Give-Asia fundraising platform under the wing of Habitat for Humanity Singapore. At that time we transferred an excess of SGD1,595 onto our new Batam Women Build campaign page and through the amazing success of our volunteers, donors and supporters we have continued to raise awareness and funding to build more homes for families in Batam. To date we have built 24 homes here in Batam and our work continues.
It costs only $6,500 Singapore Dollars (IDR70 Million Indonesian Rupiah), which is approximately €4,300 Euros to build a BWB-Habitat home here in Batam.
Please help us to build the next one!!
Thank you to all
Kind regards
Deirdre Moriarty - Batam Women Build
